    Default Houston FD LODD

There has been a LODD in the Houston FD in a house fire in the southeast part of town. My prayers go to the family and HFD.

It was a Captain from E-46. He was apparently trapped following a partial collapse and was unable to escape.

My prayers go out to the brothers from HFD and the Captain's family.

Godspeed Brother. We'll keep a good thought for you. Rest Easy.

12-year veteran Houston firefighter killed today

A 12-year veteran Houston firefighter was killed fighting a house fire early this morning.

Six others were injured in the 6 a.m. fire at a vacant, known crack house on Brandon Street, near Texas 288 and Belfort, authorities said.

Capt. Grady Burke, 39, died when the roof collapsed on him while inside the house in south Houston, said Assistant Chief Rick Flanagan.

None of the others' injuries required hospitalization and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Burke was married with three children, ages 7,8 and 9. He was serving out of Fire Station 46, at 3902 Corder. He is the 59th Houston firefighter to die in the line of duty.

This LODD really hit home with me. I was sitting in the den with my girlfriend and son, and reading about this poor brother and his poor family. It really made me think, and really understand the sacrafice that this honorable man gave to the citizens he served. Captain Grady Burke and his family have made the ultimate sacrafice, and for that I am truly thankful. GodSpeed Captain Burke, and God Bless the Burke family.
