Default TPP/THL for Nomex vs Advance

I had always believed that Advance was a superior fabric to Nomex as far as TPP/THL, however I've just read otherwise on the Globe website Globe - THL vs TPP table for different combinations
If you compare the specs for 2 of the available combinations in the Cheiftain 3200X range -
7.5oz Nomex with Aralite and Stedair moisture barrier is TPP/THL 45.3/223.3
7.0oz Advance with Aralite and Stedair moisture barrier is TPP/THL 45.4/194.0

So if I'm reading this correctly the protection in this case is very similar, but the Nomex sheds heat a lot better than the Advance?

    Is that correct?

Caldura and steadair are better combination for Inner Liners. Caldura wicks better and dries faster.

Also...you are comparing 7.5 ounce to 7.0 ounce... compare apples to apples. Another thing is this... After 3 washings, Advance TPP increases by 3-4 points. This is not true for NOMEX.

Check out the website for quaker safety products. I think they may have some information.

I'll check out that website - thanks. It's kind of hard to compare apples to apples though, as Nomex typically comes in 7.5, whereas Advance normally comes in 7.0. Interesting that despite the Advance being 0.5 lighter, it doesn't shed heat as well as the heavier Nomex.

    Are we all confused yet?

Advance with Caldura SL and Stedair 3000... That is a good combination as is Basofil Caldura SL and Stedair 3000...

Keep in mind also that the Temp rating for degradaion in Nomex is 750 and for Advance it is about 1050-1100. Basofil is about 1250.

Basofil isn't an outer shell that I'm familair with, nor have I seen it discussed much here on the forums - but I will do a search. I don't recall too many manufacturers offering it either.

It is very similar to PBI in appearance and behavior. The main difference (as I understand it) is that it is more resistant to UV degradation.
