Default to the iaff guys who don't liek vollies

first of all i am a union member and a union steward so don't call me a scab

people who throw stones should not live in glass houses, how would you like it if someone put you're paid dept. under the microscope or ignored all the good jobs you have done and keyed on the mistakes?

if you really want to make a difference come down off you're cross and do something

if the idea of vollies makes you upset and you really feel that the level of service is substandard come up with a plan to pay for and enact conversion of all the vol. fire depts. in the country to paid depts. should be something you can do in you're spare time - a few phone calls and a couple of emails

    quit complaining and do something

if you asre not part of the solution you're part of the problem

I'm not quite sure what it is you wish to accomplish here, other than to start an argument.
I don't recall anyone, union or otherwise who has called the 'vollies' substandard.
The only debate I recall is on the IAFF position of not allowing it's members to volunteer.

    some education please.

the iaff dose not let its members volunteer - is this at the dept. they are paid to work on only or is this mean they cannot volunteer for any fire dept.?

IIRC, the IAFF says any. the fair labor practices law of the US says you can't be a vollie on the department you work for.

Why is it that the people who start these threads seem to always be from the bottom of the barrel when it comes to spelling and grammar?

Is there a definition for the term 'troll'?

Nice to see you can admit you are basically just trying to start an argument.

I suggest starting with spelling and/or typing lessons.

Why do you care what the IAFF thinks of you? Is it going to affect your ability to serve your community as a volunteer? No, it's not.

There's more important things to worry about than this brother. Give it a rest.

I am sure that we can come up with a custom definition that applies specifically to these boards.

My dream — and I hope you don't find this too crazy — is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

    Talking

I am proposing a new homeland security feature on the forum. When people try to start arguments over dead horse issues the system kicks them off and blows up their computer.
