I was made a Training Officer last Friday and also have been asked to help the chief with the reporting to NFIRS. I would like to start reporting online but I dont know the website and chief has never been online in his life.
Can anyone tell me what the website is?
Thanks

here would be a good place to start
From the Illinois State Fire Marshals Website
For NFIRS assistance, please e-mail NFIRSHelp@sfm.state.il.us
I am sure they can get you up and running. May even be able to get a free version of software for doing the reports from them. I use their free version of "Firehouse" and it's simple and painless!Proudly serving as Vice-President of the Illinois Delegation of the IACOJ

Thanks for the info. Is there anyway I can look up and see what our department has reported over the last couple of years?
I know very little about NFIRS.
Thanks again

I'm sure the fire marshall's office can tell you what, if anything, has been submitted over the years. Don't be afraid to ask, they're the most helpful state office you're ever going to see. Like Les said, they'll give you the software to submit the reports, then just e-mail them in. There's even a big old book they put together to answer just about any question about NFIRS you can think of. You can report directly to FEMA, but I'd recommend doing it through IL. The Firehouse software has more uses than just reporting NFIRS. You'll be able to get all kinds of stats out of it so you will know who's doing what and where.
Better than e-mail, give them a call. You'll be up and running before you know it.Jack Boczek, Chief
