    Default Portable Generators

Does anybody have experience with generators that have Robin/Subaru air cooled engines on them? We are looking for a new generator for one of our units and the only thing I can find that offers the power we want (6,000 watt) and that will fit in the compartment we want to stow it in is powered by these engines.

I'm a small engine dealer and I would put them up there with the Honda generators. They are very good generators!

All of our gas powered equipment (other then saws) have Honda motors. IMO, they are the best!

The only thing Ive noticed is they are a bit hard to start when its cold, but if you let the gas burn out of the motor instead of just shutting it off at the switch, the cold start problem goes away

    Default Me..

I am a Honda fan, hands down. Cant beat them. If you can
find Honda to fit your specs, money well spent.

We have a big Honda pump and generator. Decent engines, certainly earned their reputation some years ago when the US competion (Briggs, etc) were obsolete POS. Still true today? I don't know. The 20hp Briggs lawn tractors certainly run/work well enough. Competion is good. Now that Honda makes their engines in the US I guess they are a US product anyhow.

We also have a 3KW electric start diesel genset with Robin engine (made in Japan) that I got from the Air Force. Very nice little unit.

I think all the Robin engines are made in Japan (by Fuji Heavy Industries as I recall). US agent is Tecumsah.

neiowa, Yes Robim engines are made in Japan, but Tecumseh is not the agent for them!

Breaking out in cold sweat now! shiver shiver

Robin is every bit as good as Honda, I sell both and really don't have a preference.
