Ya know, the Scratch and Match with the Sex Sells ad really struck me funny!

The Jack@$$ with the "non regulation" crap just saddens me.

Another mutt with nothing to do...as he thinks which FDNY tradition can I screw...

Two brothers died because the FDNY no longer issues life ropes, and this mook is worried about a green beret?

I would wear it under the regulation cap... and give this mutt a

I'd vote for wearing the cap and NOT the department uniform.

This works for me. I'd fly to NYC just to see all the guys marching in nothing but a green beret. You said it Bones, not me.

Whoa, I just said no department uniforms. Personally, I'd rather NOT see them in the green beret and nothing else.

Can they go in green beret's and E.S.U. uniforms?

You guys are all wrong on this.

He's the Commissioner. If he detects that morale may be getting too high, he has a moral obligation to beat the brothers into submission.

Besides, he probably figured that the tams were not OSHA approved, so he didn't want to subject the City to the liability.

Maybe you guys ought to think before you post.

If it were possible, George's post would win an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, a Tony Award and a Grammy for "best sarcasm" on an internet forum!

I'll be the first to admit that sometimes, even after a couple of years on these forums, I can't see exactly when George is being sarcastic or not....but this time was different!

I think it was the morale line that gave it away!
Once again....the above views are my own and not that of my department. (And probably should not be construed as having any real meaning, whatsoever!)

I said it in the other thread, too......... FTM....... If they don't want your Berets in the parade they don't want YOU in the parade. I know it's a tradition, but I would get EVERYONE to wear a green Beret and line the streets. Or, better yet, wear your Berets with something else that says FDNY, then walk adjacent to the spot in the parade where the FDNY is supposed to be walking. Just walk on the sidewalks........

NYC 'Green Berets' Allowed In This Year's SPD Parade

    PATRICK GALLAHUE
    New York Post

March 16, 2006 -- A platoon of firefighters who boycotted last year's St. Patrick's Day Parade because they were not allowed to don green berets will march tomorrow - holding the headgear in their hands.

Some 1,000 firefighters - dubbed the "Green Berets" - sat out the parade last year in protest.

"We're trying to follow the order," said Firefighter Jim McCarthy of Ladder 55 in the Bronx. "We're registering our dismay and our disappointment with the chief's decision, but we want to keep the parade a parade."

Last year's parade featured a fraction of the firefighters who usually show up to march, after Chief of Department Peter Hayden prohibited them from decorating their uniforms.

Firefighters were allowed to don the headgear before the 2005 ban. Many who did were members of Engine 60/Ladder 17, a Bronx firehouse where the tradition started in 1970.

Last year, a sea of supporters stood on the sidelines on Fifth Avenue near East 83rd Street in a show of support. "We had quite a group last year, but rather than do the same thing, we said, 'Let everybody march,' " McCarthy said.

The FDNY stands by the rule. "It's not part of the uniform," said a spokesman.
