Default Looking for a Fed Q or Q2B

Hey guys, the Q on our Ex-FDNY Mack got up and went, we're looking to replace it ASAP. Does anyone know where we can pick one up for cheap? Thanks in advance.

you bumped this after 20 minutes? geez, have some patience.

try ebay, federal signal, or your nearest emergency lights and siren store.

    Thumbs down

You got this on several others sites on the fourms. Why not just keep it in the apparatus section and delete all others?? Or you you just like to start threads?

    Default What exactly "went" ????

What exactly happened to it? The motor in a federal Q2B is nothing more than a 12V starter motor, usually Delco-Remy. Any competant Alternator/Starter repair shop can rebuild or replace the motor if it fried. I remember a place in Philly (from when I was in High School) and delivered auto parts) that does all of Phila. Fire Dept's siren rebuilds- They would have as many as 20 of them on the workbench at 1 time!

Now I'm just picuring some crazy mechanic "suping up" the siren...

"Hey guys! Look, the siren does 5 million RPM's now, and on wind-down it will generate electricity for the truck!"
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

Or, placed on a swivel, it can now propel your rusted out POV.
