I voted... just a quick comment though. I thought the phrasing of the options was a little tacky... mainly

"Yes, especially after several unsavory incidents involving firefighters"

It's a runaway on the harmless fun selection. I really don't think the public will care if a few of thier bravest wear a green tam for the St. Pat's Parade. It's not a friggin funeral after all.

Watch your mouth your mother's got the bar of soap in hand!!!

Of all the crap in the world today, we have to have a rule that bans grown adults from wearing what more or less equates to a green hat!! Holy freakin crap... do we have nothing better to do. What exactly does a green beret have to do with 'unsavory behavior' it is the wearer of the object that might make a fool of himself not vice versa. (Change up a few letters and now we're talking green BEER... whoa different thing that may have a tendency to cause the individual to do something 'out of the ordinary' )

And I'm not patting us FF's on the back, but with all of the BS we deal with day in and day out, you are going now going to add to that by telling them they cannot wear their green beret (errr... tam??) for one day! It's a PARADE!!!! They make it like you're crazy and want to wear it in a fire instead of a helmet!

I sure hope none of the politicians have shamrock lapel pins or anything on their stiff suits!!! I would be offended!

Whew! I am telling you..I am glad that they are taking a stand on this issue...Can you imagine the complete chaos if they were to let such things happen? How many lives have they spared by this? Good thing for us FF's that we have people of this caliber to watch out for us....

    "Off Topic"

hey Greenflame, do you realize that the lyrics in your signature actually belong to a 1973 song written by Mentor Williams. Dobie Gray was the first to see commercial success with it.

Uncle Cracker just covered the tune.

Just an FYI for historical accuracy.

I dont know whats the deal with the brass, but I think they should just let FDNY firefighters bee. Whats the harm wearing one, its tradition. What next could they do. How long has it been tradition? Why change it now, its been like that in the past no one said a word.

Has there been some new administration(SP) in FDNY latelly?
