    Default Stolen?

    Anyone found a house?

Missing House A Mystery To Law Enforcement

We often hear about missing people and missing pets, but have you ever heard of a missing house?

A three-bedroom, brick house, to be exact.

A torn-up roof and scraps of wood are what's left of the vacant house, located in Smith County on Highway 69, just north of I-20.

The real estate company that owns the home recently discovered it missing. They called Lindale Constable Dennis Taylor. He says he and other law enforcement officials had seen a group of men taking down the house brick by brick in broad daylight. However, because of the nearby construction of a new Wal-Mart and Lowe's, officers didn't suspect anything.

"We've talked to Wal-Mart. We've talked to Lowe's. We've talked to everybody. Nobody knows," Taylor said. "They can describe the truck. It's a little, small truck. Then they brought a dump truck one day. And it's all gone. The building's gone. The nursery's gone. And this is gone. So it was stolen."

Constable Dennis Taylor says if the robbers are caught, they will face theft charges.

and what's the last time you saw a group of truckies meticulous enough to remove brick by brick? They're not usually that gentle with things!

Anybody check with the Lowes, like maybe for a sale on aged bricks.

Heck even if they sold the wood they tore down, it couldn't be any crookeder or more splintered than the stuff they normally sell!
