What a tragedy. How very hard for all members to bear. I don't have a link; I just saw it on the news.

Just received this via email:
Hey,
A veteran Yellowknife (Canada) firefighter died today, several days after another YFD rookie was killed when a roof collapsed while they were operating on the roof. Reports are that the family of FF Cyril Fyfe, 41, decided to take him off of life support. He had been in a coma following the fire. Fyfe's partner, Kevin Olson, 24, died Thursday when the roof of a burning hardware store collapsed on top of the two men in Yellowknife. Originally from Calgary, Olson had been on the job in Yellowknife for only 10 days. Fyfe had been on the job 18 years.
As always, our deepest thoughts and sadness go out to the members of the YFD but especially the families of FF's Fyfe and Olson.
Take Care-BE CAREFUL,
BillyG

Wow thats a real downer. First 4 RCMP and now 2 firefighters. Hopefully it stays quiet in Canada for along time after this. Prayers go out to the families.

Hi, I am Kevin Olson's brother in-law,(married to his oldest sister)and a member of the Calgary Fire Department. On behalf of the family I would like to thank you all for the prayers and support that everyone has provided during this tough time.
There was a full LODD funeral service held in Calgary for Kevin and a full LODD service for Cyril Fyfe in Yellowknife as well as a Memorial service by the IAFF for both men in Yellowknife.
Thank you to all the departments and individuals that attended.

The latest edition of the Canadian Fire Services Journal has quite a few articles on the 2005 Canadian Fallen Firefighters Ceremony held in Ottawa. Kevin's sister and I wrote an article which can be viewed online on page 18 www.fsj.on.ca
