-2128hrs - W/F - 3172 Norfolk Way (Southeast) = E3, 22, 7, T1, BC1 > Report of a 2-story MFD w/ heavy fire - E3 o/s found a small out bldg fully involved behind the MFD - E3 working - other units returned.

FATALITY FIRE:


On Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 0552 hours (5:52 a.m. P.S.T.), six companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Battalion Officer Command Team, two LAFD Rescue Ambulances, and three teams of Arson Investigators, under the direction of Battalion Commander Joseph Foley, responded to a reported structure fire at 7560 North Woodman Place in the Van Nuys area. First units on the scene reported a mobile home park with smoke and fire showing from one mobile home inside the park. Firefighters using handlines entered the 15í x 35í mobile home and aggressively attacked the fire in the front portion of the mobile home confining the fire to the front portion of the structure and extinguished the fire in seventeen minutes. During the initial search and rescue phase of the incident, the body of a male in his fifties was discovered in a rear bedroom and was declared dead on the scene. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as under investigation. Fire damage is estimated at $50,000. ($40,000 structure and $10,000 contents)

2nd Alarm Structure fire


Earlier this evening OFP reported on a working mobile home fire in the Marcola Fire District at 92250 Schoolhouse St. Units arrived on scene with a fully involved mobile home with smoke/fire showing on all 4 sides of the structure. One firefighter was transported by Springfield Fire Department Medic unit to McKenzie Willamette for unknown injuries.

Mutual Aid was provided by Mohawk Valley Fire District for station coverage and McKenzie Fire provided additonal manpower to the scene.

Gas Leak


At around 1845 hrs; Racine fire was dispatched to the 5400 blk od Durand ave for a report of a gas leak. First rig on scene reported a major gas leak at Burger King. An extra engine was called to then scene. As time went on; personal from Burger King was complaining of flu type illness. An extra rescue was also called to the scene to transport sick people to the local hospital. One section of the highway was shut down to traffic due to the leak. the gas company showed up on scene and took care of the problem. The highway was reopened. Rig's on scene were; Quint 7, Engine 9, Rescue's 7 & 6. The cause of the leak is unknown at this time. rehab did not respond to this call.

Batt. 58: Box 1726, We have a fire on the 5th. floor of a 6 story class 1 occupied multiple dwelling. 1 - line is stretched and in operation. Truck's are "Opening Up" Primary search is being conducted.

Division 15: At Box 1726, Fire was in Apt. 5 "henry" on the 5th. floor. Primary searches are all negative. Probably Will Hold.

- Boston - MA - 4th Alarm - South End - Old Colony Furniture Company - A 2nd alarm fire was being fought simultaneously in the same district - 2 other smaller fires were also being fought in the city at the same (Corrected date, was listed as Mar 23, 1904)

1953 - Southwest New Hampshire District Fire Mutual Aid (SWNHDFMA) formerly organized

1961c. - Londonderry - NH - Perkins Road - Barn and farm machinery destroyed by fire - Mutual Aid Derry and Grenier Field - 1 firefighter was injured when struck by a piece of metal

1964 - Milford - NH - Bridge St (old Maple St) at Putnam St - Storehouse at textile mill burned down

1995 - Rumney - NH - Baker Valley Lumber saw mill burned to ground - Mill built in 1990, was a replacement for the mill that burned in November of that year

1999 - Greenfield - MA - 3rd Alarm - 27 James St - House heavily involved - Mutual Aid

2002 - Hanover - MA - 4th Alarm - Winter Street, 100x300 Warehouse well involved
