Slightly more serious note, I just don't get it when people go whole-hog like this over "generic" fire stuff.
I could see pride if you had you're own Department/Company's apparatus or logo or something...don't see it when it's just a big red truck. Even your company patch laser-etched into the headstone. But just a generic maltese cross or generic fire truck?
I've seen departments with fancy embrodiered jackets with custom trucks on them an all...when all they run is a couple older Internationals. I'll tell you, I'd much rather have pics of my own-albeit-homely cornbinders than something that doesn't belong to the department (and I started when all we had were commercial trucks, well, except the 40 year old aerial).IACOJ Canine Officer

That's just soooo eerie.
A simple wooden coffin for me, please, as my wishes are to be cremated."The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. I like the Marine Corps and Coast Guard casket though.
As for me, give my body to medicine. I am dead and couldn't care less, plus it saves the family money and since I am a cheap pr!ck........"Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like." Will Rogers

Yep. That's definitely a whacker casket. I wonder if a Federal Q could be mounted on it along with a 72" whacker bar. The ultimate resting place for an ultimate whacker. I bet a whacker even had a hand in designing it.

I agree Cap, my wife knows that I wish to be cremated when I die. She's even nice enough to not point out the obvious irony of spending my life fighting fire only to be incinerated in the end.Originally posted by CaptainGonzo

Why would anyone want to be buried/cremated in somthing like that? (Not that you will be able to see it of course). A funeral directors in the city down the road from me offers "novelty" coffins like that. The name of the place is "Go As You Please".

AHHH, the KISS Kasket. The brainchild of Gene Simmons who skillfully marketed it for use as a cooler for drinks until it was time for the final use.
I admit I am a KISS fan but Gene really split his KISS ARMY on that one.
I'm another advocate of organ donating then cremation. Pack me up in a refrigerator box, I'm really not going to care.
I'm going to be busy getting my directions straight for the ultimate trip. I haven't heard whether I am going North or South on my final destination, I've heard it's one of those surprise ending deals...

Same for me, at least until my family can arrange to get the fleet to sail to San Diego for the week. Might as well have a burial at sea, and in a place that I liked, plus give the Boys some fun time too.Originally posted by Dave1983

I love the one titled "The Last Hole" on the second link. That is irony at it's finest.
As for me, cremate me and spread my ashes over a forest or something. I'd hate to see my future grandkids getting into them and making sand castles or something.NREMT-P\ Volunteer Fire Chief\Tactical Paramedic
