    Default hrfes core volunteers

There are only 4 areas with volunteers. They are Bedford, Sackville, Eastern Passage-Cow Bay and Westphal-Cole Harbour. Prior to amalgamation in 1996 these departments had composite departments, and when amalgamation happened the became part of the core service area and kept their volunteers.

Where abouts are you from in the valley if you don't mind my asking

Is it a full time dept that you applied too or a volunteer??? Full time the interview would be more difficult..But nothing to really sweat over..Volunteer interviews are generally very easy

Also, I should have added to paris04 that my department does interviews as well, but they're more like an information session for the applicant then it is questions towards them. Most of the information is covered in your application (or it should be) other than the obvious questions that we need to ask. Nothing to be nervouse about.

We also require medicals from your family doctor as well as a criminal background check. The "good old days" are a long ways behind us now.

    I got right in...
I was at the interview and he was like "You're already in we just want to get to know you" and just wanted my hobbies and stuff.

Hantsport is a happening spot.. I won't make fun of it like most people do because it's bigger than where I live!

There was a post about entrance requirements. I have seen a few, everything from (current dept) interview, physical fitness challenge (drap hose, carry ladder, extinguisher, drag dummy, carry child dummy, remove 30lb buckets, open close very old jaws all the while in pack and full turn out gear. In another department you were on probation for 6 months ( no call attendance) just training and meetings after which the membership voted whether to accept you as a member out of 60 members if 5 said no you were not in. Then you had to wait another 6 months before you could apply to be on probation again.
