    Talking Salvation Army?

Has anyone noticed this trend lately?

There are more recycled threads on the forums than used clothes at the Salvation Army Thrift Store!

As long as we don't go so far back that we arrive at the '70's ....Mack trucks, open cabs, long boots, riding the tailboard... oh hang on, should've done a search!

Oh, the good old days All though I only "date" to the early 80's, I do recall everything but the long boots

    Hey Cap Gonzo.

What gives with starting a new thread?

I did a search of the forums on "Salvation army" and got 128 hits.

Why not just recycle one of the old ones.

I belong to other forums besides this one and for other topics too.

Why does every new person who starts a new thread (ok sans the blue light ones ) always get yelled at by some forum members (we all know who they are). Forums aren't search engines and they are not knowledge bases, not all of us are experts and half of what most of us post here is opinion or preference passed off as "this is the only way". It is good to start a new thread once in a while. It also gives someone like myself, a newer member, an opportunity to chime in on something new rather than just having someone search for a year or two old thread. With the way things change in the fire service that info might already be old as is.

I know where the search button is and I have used it a few times but it rarely answers my questions... the more threads the better in my opinion... which isn't fact

If you use the search, you will find that quite a few people have already responded to the question. If you do the search, you may get your answer without asking the question again. If you do the search and still can't get an answer on that same topic, post in the old thread and it will likely cause others to re-read the thread.

Some times people who have already answered the same or a similar question in another thread or multiple threads don't want to answer it again for the umpteenth time.

It also helps to stir discussion by people re-opening old threads becasue it makes people think "Oh yeah, I almost forgot all about this......"

Funny you should mention it. I seem to have misplaced my Sansabelt slacks and white belt.

Sometimes it is even more basic than using the Search button .... Why not take a moment to see if your article/topic has already been posted by looking at the most recent threads by checking the first couple of pages of a particular forum from the Main Index, by clicking on the "Today's Topics" button located in the left hand menu or clicking on the "View New Topics" button in the top right hand corner of the Main Index.
