I'd like to hear from guys, or gals, who have had lasik or any other sight correcting procedure and if they've had any problems. I currently REALLY depend on glasses/contacts and would like to get something done, just that it's a lot of $$.

If you do a search for lasik, you'll see some older forums.

I am a career f/f who had the proceedure done 4 years ago now. During the proceedure it was a little scary, wondered if I had made the right decision or not, but it was well worth it in the end and would have it done again in a minute. My night vision was fairly blurry for the first 6 months, especially if I was tired, but now my vision is great. My health insurance even paid the amount they would have paid if I had gotten another pair of glasses.

There are a few threads out there on this topic with lots of advice.
But to add to Jim has said, one of our senior crew got it done about 2 years ago, and he swears by it now. He has no problems of any kind, and is quite happy to not have to wear glasses/lenses in his SCBA.Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!

Couple guys I know have had it done(4) and they said they would have gladly paid twice as much. Said it was like night and day.
the other person I know that had it done saw improvement but was not as extreme as the other 4."Train as if your life depends on it"

Me...
Had RK (pre-laser/lasix) back in 1993. Best money ever spent.
Please feel free to ask me about it. I am a little sensitive to
sunlight, but thats it.
I recommend doing some major research before doing it.
Good luck, Bou

I did it (LASIK) and wouldn't go back either. Besides, my wife said the valium they gave me for the procedure was really interesting as well. I don't recall any of it, but I guess I made a fool of myself going from the doctor's office to the car.
I get dry eyes once in a while, and when super tired my vision suffers a tiny bit. Still the greatest gift I've been able to give myself, besides my two kids.

A few of my colleagues had the surgery and had great success. They all went to the same place, which was good. Get lots of references. They also said that darker colored eyes are not as sensitive to light after the surgery as lighter colored eyes.
