LOS ANGELES, CA:
MAJOR EMERGENCY STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Wednesday 21, 2005 at 0004 hours (12:04 AM PST), twenty-one Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, two LAFD Rescue Ambulances under EMS Captain David Pimentle, Arson Investigators, and four Chief Officer Command Teams under the direction of Assistant Chief John Badgett, responded to a Major Emergency Structure Fire at 1005 West 28th Street in the USC University Village area. First units on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from a vacant, two-story, Victorian-style fraternity house, under renovation. During the initial, offensive assault on the fire, firefighters found a stubborn fire throughout the building with the attic well involved, the call was made to pull companies back and transition to a defensive attack on the fire. Three ladder pipes and two wagon batteries were put into quick operation. When the bulk of the fire was knocked down, LAFD firefighters restaged an aggressive interior attack utilizing handlines to knock down the last of the determined fire in an earned one hour thirty-nine minutes. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire damage continues to be tabulated.

TAC9 is pleased to announce the rebirth of Toronto Firenet. TFN was originally formed as a pager group using the old advisor pagers. Now TFN is an all E-mail based group with it's dispatchers using state of the art 2-way pagers.

TFN uses TAC9's proprietary computer system. TFN sends pages to its members as well as customers & affiliate groups across North America.

Toronto Firenet pages Working Fires & greater, MVA's, EMS, PD, Haz-mat, and the like incidents in Greater Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Buffalo, NY. Their network of active dispatchers includes firefighters, EMS workers & buffs.

If interested in getting this info to your pager or wireless device please contact Toronto Firenet at tfn@tac9.com or via phone at
(416) 427-9055.

Thank you !
