Any good short paramedic schools?

Hello.
Are there any good, short (6-9 months?) paramedic schools in North Texas? I've looked into UT Southwestern, but they don't start until spring, from what I understand.

Try some of the local community colleges. Also I know that Metrocrest in North Dallas/Addison used to teach a paramedic course. Dallas Community College on Midway Dr has a paramedic program. Don't know cost or length.

Trinity Valley Community College has an EMT and I am not for sure about Paramedic. It is located in Kaufman.

If you're not already an EMT-B, I would suggest Tarrant Co. College NE campus. It's a solid program and they should have one starting in the next week or so that will go 16 weeks (classes Tue and Thu). If you've been there, done that, check into their Medic program. Last I heard they started classes in both the fall and spring. The shortest program I know of is out of Methodist Hospital in Dallas (where DFD recruits are trained) put on in part by Biotel. On the Dallas side there is Brookhaven CC. Hill College in Cleburne and Weatherford College are 2 more options. I've also heard about one in Denton or Maybe Sherman area, called Red River or something like that.

Thanks. I start the class at the end of the month. I'm actually asking from my husband. He's already an EMT-B, and is going to the fire academy over the summer, and wants to jump in and get school over with so he's more marketable. He's heard something about one in Waxahachie or somewhere in that area, that's only 6 months, but he didn't get much more info.

I believe that would be Navarro County College. I don't know anyone associated with the program amd haven't really heard anything (+ or -) about it.

I've been considering enrolling in an EMT-Basic course at San Jacinto College(I live in the Clear Lake Area of Houston). I was told by a friend, however, that there are some Volunteer Fire Departments and Ambulance Companies that may be willing to put me through training for no cost to myself. I was wondering if anyone knew of one of these sorts of agencies or of where I might be able to find more information regarding one.

Try the local RAC system. The RAC for my county is paying for my paramedic class and they paid for my Intermediate class last summer. There are certain oblingations to fulfill afterwards but they are pretty easy.

I don't know what a local RAC is.

RAC = Regional Advisory Council. It's a group of counties that are in charge of trauma services. McLennan County where I live is part of HOTRAC along with five other surrounding counties. They get money from TDH or whatever it is now and use it for grants. They also have protocols which we go by. I think Harris County is in TSA Q. Hope this helps.

After some research we found out that Navarro College offers a 6 month program and a 1 year program, and TXESEG is also in that area and offers a year program. Just thought I'd share.

im new to the austin area and interested in furthering my career.. i have worked in communications for 6 years and want to start something new... anyone with info please let me know...thanks

I know of Austin Community College down there but not sure of length or anything.
