??? Are they done announcing FY04 grants?
Partial answer from http://www.firegrantsupport.com
$745,125,000 to carry out the activities of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This appropriation included a mandate that no less than five percent of the appropriated funds support fire prevention activities. As such, $27,500,000 of the total appropriation has been reserved for the Fire Prevention and Safety grantsLast edited by neiowa; 04-30-2005 at 11:06 AM.

They usually don't tally how many of each category were funded. Which is why I usually do it in an Access Database and spit out some reports. Haven't had the time of late, but I might be able to pull it off soon. There is always a disparity, the 8000 was an estimate. 5% is allocated for administrative costs, so there isn't $750 million available for awards, just the whole program including costs, so take another $27,500,000 off the top. $695 million would be the awards total, and they may not reach all until September when some folks start handing the excess funds back.

And as Tom Petty once sang...
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part
Don’t let it kill you baby, don’t let it get to you
Don’t let ’em kill you baby, don’t let ’em get to you
I’ll be your breathin’ heart, I’ll be your cryin’ fool
Don’t let this go to far, don’t let it get to you

Actually I haven't put the feelers out lately. I haven't even made it past DHS's web site lately to check for their PDF of the total apps for 2005. Haven't even emailed anyone to ask either. Between trying to pound out more articles for Firehouse.com and planning a few grant writing seminars around the US, I've been a little on the frantic side.
Plus they keep expecting me to do work at work. They pay me AND expect me to be productive? What kinda society is this?
