    Default Deaths due to fire?

Does anyone know where I can get information on police officer deaths due to entering building fires? We are doing an educational class for our local PD and wanted some statistics of why not to enter. Thanks.

    Cool Try These................

Look at Websites of the NFPA and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Probably the best place to start, for now.

The FBI issues an annual report on law enforcement officers line of duty deaths. Check this link:

    http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/leoka03.pdf

My quick search of the report using the terms "fire" and "arson" reveal no officer deaths in the manner you describe. You may want to search deeper than I did.

While I am on the subject, your FD and PD should be commended for this cooperative effort to reduce the risk to police officers and, by extension, to fire fighters.

My dept and our PD went through this about two years ago and so far the payoff has been huge. They focus on scene security and access, but leave the firefighting to us. They have come to understand our operations as well as us understanding theirs. Relations between the two departments has greatly improved. Best advice I can give is to exchange SOP's and hold everyone accountable to the their respective standards. If there is an issue on scene, Let the IC or company officer deal with it with the PD ranking officer.

If data is available I would suggest that you look at injuries as well, not just deaths.
