You might start with spelling and grammar....
We have no clue as to what you are asking!
PS: what is firetech 5 "Fire prevention"?"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

I am with Captain Gonzo on this.
Stay in school, learn to spell and compose a letter, memo or question.
Explain what this class is you are taking.
You didn't mention your age, location, education and all the other usful information.
Most states allowed full membership for career firefighters at 18. This after attending that departments own or state fire fighting training academy will allow you to completely operate on the fire ground. Some volunteer department allow younger members at 15 or 15 but you aren't allowed to operate on the fire ground.
I got my job first, went through all the hoops and jumps and then I went to college and got my degrees in fire science and public fire administration.Last edited by CaptOldTimer; 05-03-2005 at 10:47 AM.

A little effort goes a long way
The growth of the Internet has been the most important development in the last decade. It allows us to meet and learn from people that we never would have known to exist just a few years ago.
However, the Internet has dealt a serious blow to English and grammar skills. Use of capitalization, punctuation and paragraph breaks are rare these days. Otherwise intelligent people make themselves appear ignorant because they think they can be lazy if it's online.
Unfortunately, I see these bad habits finding their way into offline documents. So few people now know how to properly format a letter or memo. The art of how to compose a formal document is slowly becoming lost.

Regardless of where you are located...Any information that is usefull is a good thing.
1. Education-learn as much as you can, become well-rounded with your education, and realize that you will never stop going to school.
2. Keep your nose clean. Crediablity is everything
3. Competition for fire jobs is intense. First, go for the job because you love it, not because it sounds easy. Secondly, learn to present yourself and place yourself above all others in any hiring process. Use the attitude of "this job is mine and yours to take from me"
Good luck.

Thanks, that makes two of us among all that are in here. Most of older folks know how to spell, but there key boards don’t know a thing about spelling!
