    Default Tacoma, Washington Fire Exam

    The City of Tacoma, Washington is currently accepting applications.

    The written exam will be given by FSI ( Firefighter Selection Inc.)

    Go to www.fireprep.com and click on FSI ( Firefighter Selection Inc.)for a 640 question practice exam.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    ∑ Graduation from high school or equivalent

    ∑ 18 years of age



    If you meet these qualifications, submit a completed City of Tacoma application form and study material acknowledgement form. Your application materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2005. Incomplete applications will result in applicantís disqualification.




    HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

    A physical ability test (PAT) will be administered prior to interviews and hiring consideration. The PAT assesses the physical abilities necessary to perform the duties of a firefighter and will only be given to the number of eligible candidates needed to meet the anticipated needs of the Fire Department. Individuals given a conditional offer of employment must also pass a background check, polygraph and psychological examinations, and a pre-employment medical examination which includes a drug screening. At the time of appointment it is necessary to possess a current, valid, Washington State Driverís license which must be maintained thereafter. Fighters are also required to maintain EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certified status. New employees must successfully complete a one year probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification.
