I was hoping to gather some opinions that will hopefully be of some use. My wife is a 3rd year medical student. This time next year we will be moving somewhere for her to complete her residency. A few programs have risen to the top.
One is located in Dayton. What I am asking for is your opinion as to why Dayton is a good or bad place to live. If I knew I wouldn't be asking. Just looking for a little fat to chew on from some folks who know instead of some fancy chamber of commerce fluff. Thanks for reading and for any replies.

I just spent the weekend in Dayton attending the Howell Rescue Systems CRASH COURSE... IMHO... I think the city leaves a lot to be desired. However, there are some nice suburbs to the east and southeast of Dayton. Dayton seems to have "bad neighborheoods" on three sides of town.
I suppose someone who lives there can give you a better "feel" for the place... I am just a visitor on the outside looking in.Richard Nester

C'mon folks...
There has to be someone else out there with an opinion... good or bad. I lived in Dayton for a few years but that was back in the day ('69-'72). What about Columbus?

Columbus is a lot nicer that Dayton. Much cleaner. Safer.

You can always move to the Nortern End of Cincinnati... The West Chester, Mason, Liberty Township and Sharonville areas all have fairly quick access to Dayton... and are a much more diserable area to live. There are lots of oppurtunity for part time work, but the full time jobs, like any location, are very competitive.
Also some of the burbs around Dayton aren't too bad, but like other have conveyed the city itself is not all that great.
Good luck!Last edited by Epinephrine; 06-01-2005 at 11:30 AM.
