You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Idgit. This maroon (to use Capt. Gonzo's word) gets to now pay for the hose, and at every training session is responsible for reminding people why we do not drive over hoses in the street.

He then lectures everyone about why we do not drive through a collapse zone of a building, while the fire is venting through the windows, AND drive under the stream of water from the hose he just ran over.

About 6 years ago we had a 6 alarm fire and one of the sites that had pictures of the incident posted said "highlight of the day: a drunk driver drove over a 5 inch supply line and got his muffler caught. The jaws of life had to be used to lift the car off the line. The suspect was quickly arrested."

And yet they're allowed to have lights on their car? They're red lights to, so in my area that means it's a chief, but I'm hoping this was taken in one of the states where regular firefighters get reds.....Oi, makes you wonder how people like that can function as firefighters, much less members of society....

That sounds like some of the people in my company. There are two types of firefighters that respond in their own vehicles, officers and wackers...and the occasional one who finds the scene on the way to the station. Unfortunately, the wackers who respond always seem to have no idea what to do.

I hit the "post reply" button, but I'm at a total loss for words.

In my short career, I've seen a lot of people who didn't belong on the fire ground... but never one as dumb as that guy. I hope the Lord watches over the other members of the department. That guy is a major liability.

I had to watch it twice since I couldn't beleive it the first time. Any details about where this happened? Who this person was? Disciplinary actions taken against him after it happened?
This should be shown at EVERY training session in every department to show the importance of scene control. Of course, when it's your own people cutting your hoses... WOW. Just...WOW...

I thought about that, too. It looks like a water show instead of any real attempt at suppression. What size line is that? It appears to be a small handline. They appear to have a good water supply, so they need big water going into that structure -- deck guns, ladder pipes and 2.5" handlines.
