Talking And YOU thought misplaceing the remote was bad........

Last Update: Friday, May 20, 2005. 12:00pm (AEST)
    Missing: one Russian lake
A Russian village has been left baffled after its lake disappeared overnight.

NTV television has shown pictures of a giant muddy hole bathed in summer sun, while fishermen from the village of Bolotnikovo look on disconsolately.

Dmitry Zaitsev, a local Emergencies Ministry official, says trees also disappeared under the ground as the lake emptied near the Volga river, east of Moscow.

"It is very dangerous. If a person had been in this disaster, he would have had almost no chance of survival," he said.

He says water in the lake might have been sucked into an underground water-course or cave system but some villagers have more sinister explanations.

One older woman has told NTV she believes the Americans have finally been able to hit them where it hurts.

"I am thinking, well, America has finally got to us," she said as she sat on the ground outside her house.

It wouldn't be the first time. It happened in I think Louisiana when a drilling company working on a barge drilled into a mine.

That's silly. I very much doubt that that lake had anything to do with 9/11.

    Or did it?

Yup...we did it. Using stealth technology, we landed a herd of a million camels confiscated from Iraq and ordered them to drink up at gunpoint. Heavy lift helos transported then to a fleet of waiting C-5A Galaxy transports....

Those Russians need to lay off the vodka for a while. It's so obvious that the FRENCH took their lake, but no... they go and blame the Americans.

Yup. They drilled into a salt mine, sucked the entire lake, along with fishing boats, a group of ducks, the fish, and their drilling platform, into the mine below. The mine was also in operation, but all of the miners escaped unharmed. I have a book on the greatest accidents in my office at work, I'll have to look up the company name for ya

It was Texaco drilling the hole to see if they could find oil Lake Peignor (sp) pronounced Pen-your. The ensuing whirlpool and crator washed out the entire coast of this town, sucked down several barges and tugboats, made the canal to the Gulf start flowing backwards, etc etc. It had to be an amazing sight.

If the cold war was still on, i bet russia would have launched their nukes because of this
"There are only two things that i know are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And im not so sure about the former."

For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.
