Sorry, that wasn't presented in the right manner. We will have to resume with the task at hand.

An Elegy for Jerry By Robert Hunter

    Jerry, my friend,
    you've done it again,
    even in your silence
    the familiar pressure
    comes to bear, demanding
I pull words from the air
    with only this morning
    and part of the afternoon
    to compose an ode worthy
    of one so particular
    about every turn of phrase,
    demanding it hit home
    in a thousand ways
    before making it his own,
and this I can't do alone.
Now that the singer is gone,
where shall I go for the song?

    Without your melody and taste
to lend an attitude of grace
a lyric is an orphan thing,
a hive with neither honey's taste
    nor power to truly sting.

What choice have I but to dare and
call your muse who thought to rest
out of the thin blue air,
that out of the field of shared time,
a line or two might chance to shine --

    As ever when we called,
in hope if not in words,
    the muse descends.

How should she desert us now?
Scars of battle n her brow,
    bedraggled feathers on her wings
and yet she sings, she sings!

May she bear thee to thy rest,
    the ancient bower of flowers
    beyond the solitude of days,
    the tyranny of hours --
the wreath of shining laurel lie
    upon your shaggy head,
bestowing power to play the lyre
    to legions of the dead.

If some part of that music
    is heard in deepest dream,
or on some breeze of Summer
    a snatch of golden theme,
we'll know you live inside us
    with love that never parts
our good old Jack O' Diamonds
    become the King of Hearts.

    I feel your silent laughter
    at sentiments so bold
that dare to step across the line
to tell what must be told,
so I'll just say I love you
    which I never said before
and let it go at that old friend,
    the rest you may ignore.

Here's the only one that I can manage to do right.

    Boiled Water:
Place 2 cups of water into a saucepan. Place on high heat until boiling. Flavor to taste.

I think I had some of that at my last station. Of course, the cook spiced it up with 'flavor kill' and served it with water.

Once just before i got to the station, one of the guys called and told me to bring some coffee along. I thought i had heaps of coffee in the pantry so i said no problem. Turns out i only had decaf in the pantry. Needless to say, the blokes were not happy, and it was 2130 hrs so all the shops were closed as well.

For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.

I would have kept quiet but it has decaf on the label. I think its is still at the station; untouched.

I live on top of a mountain. We have a general store up here and to get to a supermarket its a 10-15 minute drive. And even then they close at about 8:30. I could probably have gotten some from a servo but it would be a long way out of my way when its a 1 minute drive to the station.

Good God, man; we're talkin' coffee here. Would you serve artificial sweetener as sugar? Would you serve cooked raccoon as prime rib? And isn't it true that you hit Mrs. Picadilly in the head with the candlestick as she walked through the den?

HEY! I live at the top of a mountain (for the remainder of this week anyhow)

But like Patty, its a 15-20 min drive to anything that's open after 9pm. Kinda sucks when a craving pops up.
