MAN O MAN this was a tough search, but I found it:

There is always a smart***** in the crowd. The A's still go in the top drawer and the Z's in the bottom no matter how many drawers you have to play with unless you Canuks have a different filing system

Filing System for Drawers??........ Don't you just put them on when you get up in the morning??..........

This, of course, reminds me of the story about a certain Canadian Forces Recruit (I won't mention Rick by name) arriving at Boot Camp. The whole bunch of them were standing in line waiting to get clothing and our recruit was watching the others getting their stuff, trying to see if there was a system to it. Guy in front of him was next up, and the QM asked "how many drawers you want?" Guy says "Seven - one each for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,..........." QM issues seven pair of drawers to him, and he moves on. Our Hero was called up next, and QM again asks "How many Drawers you want?" Our Hero replies "Twelve". QM looks at him and says "What??" to which Our Hero says "Sure - January, February, March........"

Up until the early 70's part of the weekly barracks inspection in the NZ Military was a check to ensure that the person had changed their underwear.

This ensured that a person changed at least once a week.

Damn glad I joined in the 80's.

You have obviously never worn our old style DPM's.

Do that for a couple of days in the bush and all you would be left with is a bloody stump.

We had similar back in my day - they made good lightweight summer PJ's Ours of course were jungle green, to go with the normal wear, No DPM for us back then.

For winter, they issued us with woollen, knee length tie-waist things. They made a good polishing rag for the car...

Where they got the idea for those winter woollies I'll never know! Our winter's aren't that cold. And I never knew of anybody wearing them.

Funny about that DPM stuff, my youngest son was issued with a DPM covered bible! Which I still have. His big brother wasn't given one though. Young son was a Commando signaller - maybe they thought that area needed bibles? Older son was an MP - they're past help of course...

Ya, and they went "hand-in-hand" with our khaki "thermal"???? underwear that was 100% guaranteed to shrink on the first and all consecutive washes. I have one pair that I think a 5 or 6 year old might be able to wear.

Reason for shrinking: The constriction of blood flow to non-essential organs. Wow, I've got Fruit of the Loom underwear that has been around for a decade or so.. They go the opposite way of shrinking.. Now they also have air-cooling vents.. Perfect for fishing in the hot summertime when Humidity is past the vaporization point.
