I have a copy of the original BBC movie production. For a BBC product, and the fact that they had the apparent budget of an old Dr Who.... they did pretty good.

It is most certainly A LOT BETTER than the later 200(?) American production, which has all American actors, rather than the required British folks.

Did anyone else ever try the very early PC based Hitchhikers game? A text question and answer thingy? Back in '89 I think. I failed dismally...

Ayup, I remember that game. It wasn't too bad really... no graphics to speak of, just questions and answers.

It's online again at the BBC website.

I checked my spam blocker on my computer. Nope, no spam today. Such a shame. Some grilled spam would have been nice, but I guess it is for the best. I wouldn't want my keyboard becomming greasy.

If I were Wayne Newton, I'd have to name my first born son, Fig.

If I were a boy named Fig....

I'd probably get my butt kicked a lot..

Speaking of Newtons, didn't I read something about Olivia remarrying? Is she any relation to Fig?

    Amazing but true facts:

We are not in a recession. Did you know that the cost of living has only gone up 2% over the past 2 1/2 years? I have not had a raise in that long and today I was told I am getting a 2% raise. My boss did not seem to appreciate my sarcastic response to it (but I am still employed, at least as of 7:14 pm on 7-14-08). Unless they are saving the news for tomorrow morning.

The lotto gods better be good to me soon.

    Good luck on the lottery!

By the way, if you win, I think we might be related..

Mississippi currently doesn't have a lottery. We are more progressive at taking money... We have casinos. A few of them have great dining, and large all-you-can-eat buffets.

We have a slot machine here locally. I've never lost money on it, and always break even. It must be one of those new sleek models, because it doesn't have any pictures or drums to watch spin. I put a dollar bill in it, and win 4 quarters. I put a $5 in it and win 20 quarters. The only problem is that it is in a car wash. Still, there is nothing like the jingle of money falling into the catch bucket.

A decent share of that and I'll even come over and say hello!

I think the superlotto is about US$29 right now, cash payout is about $17, minus federal taxes and I would end up with about $8M in my bank account. That should give me a few points in my favor to migrate to Aussisland, buy my home and pursue my dream You would be more than welcome to come say hello volfirie.

I am thinking positive here so I win. I am ready to leave.

I keep thinking I should buy a lottery ticket or two as well. Winning a US lottery would be great, because at this point in time, while still employed at the Embassy, I am tax exempt...... I'm not going to hurt myself with the math. LOL

It might have something to do with the space aliens from Area 51.
