Now as much help as I recieved from the Forum on writing the grant.. I was thinking maybe some of you could share where you found your "Best Deals" on PPE and such.. If things keep going positive for us, we will be getting
Scott SCBA:
Turnouts:
Mobil Fill Station.
I've been looking online already.
Is there like a "list" that sales people will recieve of Departments that got the money? Will my phone be ringing with folks tryin to sell us stuff?..lol..

Once the awardees are announced on line the sales people will review the list to see who they can contact. We recieved a few calls and walk ins for our grant last year.
Check to see if there is a state bid price for the equipment you are looking for. This will save you time and energy and should provide you with the best prices.
Otherwise, check with your city/town on purchasing/bidding requirements.

We have not been in a position before to ever spend much $ before the fire grant so went around with several interested vendors. MES had the best pricing and willing to work with us. Have had stuff coming in over the last 3 months and they are not looking for payment until they fulfill the entire project. $75000+ SCBA, turnout gear, monitor, LDH, frag can etc.
Municipal Emergency Service I think nationwide.

For the SCBA you might try Wayest out of Tulsa and for the PPE you might try Affordable Fire Equipment out of Mannford. Wayest doesn't have much on their website but the phone number is 1-800-256-1022.
Affordable Fire's website is www.affordablefireequipment.com

In our NC department, all of our grant items so far (SCBA, PPE, Cascade system)have come from Municipal Equipment Services (MES) out of Charlotte, NC. They are by far the easiest to work with. And as a reply stated earlier, I also think they are nationwide. Give them your budget figure and tell them to make it work. I bet they will.
