Body found following DeLand house fire

DELAND — An unidentified body has been found inside a home that burned down early this morning, a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

The victim has not been identified but the state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.

Fire officials got a call about a fire at 1955 Calle Huescha, about 1 a.m. today. By the time deputies and Volusia County Fire Services arrived on scene, the single-story home was engulfed in flames.

After the fire was put out, investigators entered the home and found the body at about 2:20 a.m., the sheriff's spokesman said.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an investigation to identify the victim and determine the cause of death.
