I remember sitting in my home in Scituate, Ma watching the Red Sox play and seeing the smoke over the outfield wall. Sad day.

    Rest In Peace...

Hopefully someone is putting on a ceremony at the memorial to remember these individuals.

I can gurantee that many Boston Companies will visit the Memorial Site over the weekend to pay there respects and reflect on the event.
A "Good" fire is not measured by how big it is, but by the fact that everyone is going home safe, and that we possibly learned something new about firefighting. Member:IACOJ

I wonder......how many days each year are NOT anniversaries of the Fire community losing one of our own???

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the Vendome fire....

Go to Google.Com, type in "Boston Vendome Fire", or "Vendome Fire", etc. ALOT of information does come up. Try with other search engines too, because everything is published on the internet.

We're a little early on this one. The anniversary date of the Hotel Vendome collapse was June 17, 1972.

Although I'm not assigned to this house I believe that E-33/L-15 go down to the Memorial once a week and perform general maintenance duties.

Commonwealth Ave x Dartmouth Street- There is a very informative monument in the mall (park) across from where the hotel stood, very important thing to see.

    Hey Boston,

The guy asking for info on the fire resurrected the thread. Capt Gonzo posted it on the appropriate date in 2005. Just pointing that out for ya

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was a little odd. You can see how infrequently I post!

I remember being there too. My mom's family is from Scituate. We lived in Hanson at the time of the fire. Even though I was just a kid at the time, it made quite a big impression on me.

God Bless the heroes of the BFD!
    Rest in peace Brothers!
