The beloved father of our friend and colleague George Wendt passed away Thursday. Please post your condolences here.
BOONTON - George A. Wendt died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at St. Clare's Hospital / Denville following an apparent heart attack. He was 75.
Born in Boonton, he was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Wendt was the owner/operator of the G. C. Wendt Tool Co. in Boonton for 43 years, retiring in 1986.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Active for 51 years with the Boonton Fire Department, he was an exempt member of Maxfield Hose and Engine Co. No. 1, and was Chief of the Department from 1972-1973.
A brother, Peter Wendt III, and a sister, Alypia Cutler, both died previously.
He is survived by his dear wife of 48 years, Gloria (Gallagher); four children and their spouses, George A. and Christine of Flanders, James L. and Wendy of Boonton, Carl E. and Jennifer of Boonton, and Lynn M. and Gordon Douglass of Clifton; two sisters, Elizabeth Masar of Montville, and Wilhelmina Koehler of Shelburne, Vt.; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Ave., Boonton with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Fire Department services will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions in George's name may be made to the Kiwanis Ambulance Service of Boonton, P.O. Box 16, Boonton, N.J. 07005.
Rest in peace brother. You shall be missed by the entire community of Boonton, NJ....and in firehouses across the area. May I express the sympathies of the Oakland NJ Fire Dept. and the NJ Forest Fire Service crews from Division A.

George, Im SO sorry to hear of your loss. My father passed when I was 25 and I still miss him VERY much.
From what was posted, your father led a wonderfull life. Perhaps you can find some peace in knowing that.
