I heard when I was down in fairfax that philly is testing in september. Is this correct because I can't seem to find anything and the recruitment office is closed right now. Thanks for the help.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
This is fire fighting and rescue work, controlling and extinguishing fires using a variety of specialized equipment and techniques, evacuating persons from areas of danger, and performing emergency treatment. Work includes inspecting multi-occupancy and commercial buildings for fire hazards and violations of the fire code, and instructing the public on the principles of fire prevention. Employees work together in fire companies or medic units performing general fire fighting and emergency medic duties in assigned geographic areas of the city. The dangers inherent in the work represent conditions which can be only partially controlled through preventive measures. Work requires moderate to strenuous physical effort when using hoselines, ladders and tools, and when performing rescues.

REQUIREMENTS:
To be hired for the position:
Must have reached eighteenth (18th) birthday, but not have reached fortieth (40th) birthday by date of appointment
High school diploma or GED at the time of hire
Philadelphia residence for one year prior to hire
A valid Pennsylvania driver's license
Drug free, including marijuana free
Good physical and mental health
Willingness to work rotating shifts and work in dangerous situations
Pass ALL examinations listed below

EXAMINATIONS:
The written test is tentatively scheduled for November 19, 2005. Applicants must pass the written examination to be given further consideration for processing, applicants will be processed in rank order, according to score, plus applicable Veteran's preference points.
Type: Written test
Weight: 100% of score, establishes rank on list
Candidates MUST also successfully complete each of the following steps in the selection process:
Drug Test
Background Investigation
Medical Evaluation (may include physical performance test)
Training Program at the Fire Academy
On-The-Job Training
