HOUSTON DISPATCH
Houston TX area

Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2005 03:17:50 -0000
From: "Ethan Grossman"

Major Power Outage-SE Texas

Problem originated at the Louis Creek plant in the 10800 block of Long Rd off of IH-45 in Willis, Tx. There was a small explosion in the building that took out a transmission line. Montgomery County FD is on scene... I could see three trucks. Counties affected are Grimes, Hardin, Tyler, Waller, Walker, Trinity, Montgomery, Liberty, Polk, and San Jacinto. Entergy estimates 100,000 customers are without power and it will not be restored before tomorrow evening at the earliest. The Liberty County jail is currently in lockdown. Conroe PD and the Conroe hospital are using emergency generators, as well as many other places. Power has returned to Oak Ridge North.

Miami Valley Breaking News sends out incident notifications of all types of fires, multiple alarm fire, hazardous materials incidents, several different types of EMS incidents, including MVC's with entrapment, MCI's, shootings and stabbings. We have also just begun sending law enforcement incidents, like pursuits, armed robbery and SWAT call-out, to name a few. Our software allows us to send directly to Nextel, Arch Wireless and Ameritech, and to all other wireless devices as an email.

MVBN sends incidents notifications on a county-by-county basis. We have three different groups for each county, which are, fire, EMS and law enforcement, and we also send daytime (7am - 10pm) and nighttime (10pm - 7am) notifications, which allows our members to use a work pager/cell phone to receive information from us, without being disturbed at night.

Our current coverage area includes the following counties in Ohio and northern Kentucky: - Boone (KY), Butler, Campbell (KY), Champaign, Clark, Columbiana, Darke, Delaware, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Kenton (KY), Logan, Madison, Mahoning, Miami, Montgomery, Portage, Preble, Trumbull, Union, and Warren. For the counties not listed, we have an "other" group. We also send out Amber Alerts and incoming National incident notifications from other groups around the country.
