Is anyone interested in developing an Ordiance to control hazardous material that are stored, use and manufactured in your community. I am the Fire Marshal in Fairfield, NJ and we have a Hazardous Chemical Control Ordinance that has been in in place since 1982. The purchose of the ordinance is so we have a compete inventory of all chemicals stored within my Township. It also gives us a revenue source, because they have to pay an annual permit fee. If anyone is interested I can e-mail you a copy of the ordinance.
The ordinance was created because of a chemical fire in 1979 and we had no idea what was stored in the building. We found out they had Agent Orange stored. The next day we had every body from the State there telling us to shower three times a day, etc.

The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act already has this requirement. Check out 42 CFR 116.
