*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM BRUSH FIRE:

On Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at 1:03 PDT, fifteen companies of Los Angeles firefighters, four LAFD Rescue Ambulances, one EMS Supervisor, one Arson Investigating Unit, three LAFD Helicopters, and three Chief Officer Command Teams responded to a Greater Alarm Brush Fire at 10547 North Boulder Ridge Terrace in Chatsworth. The first Fire Companies arrived quickly to discover one acre of brush burning on the intricately rocky hillside behind a home. The fire proved to be a stubborn one as it weaved upward throughout the virtually inaccessible hillside of scattered brush and rough terrain. Firefighters attacked the blaze by actively extending hose lines while Los Angeles County camp crews cleared brush. Meanwhile, the adept efforts of LAFD Helicopters proved to be a vital asset in battling this blaze, as they delivered precise and effective water drops to the head of the fire. Fortunately, no structures stood in the path of the flames and the fire was restricted to just ten acres. The hardworking men and women worked tirelessly to contain this fire in just over two hours and two firefighters were transported to Columbia West Hills Hospital with minor heat related injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

REPORT PREPARED BY :
With continued loyalty,

Melissa Kelley
Firefighter III
Public Service Officer
Los Angeles Fire Department
