Hello - Glad I found this site as I've learned a great deal...Thanks! Anyhow, I'm in Metairie and have been trying to get on ANY depart. for about 3 years. (not Jeff Parish, too political)
For the civil test I scored 81, 82, 81, talk about consistant!
Can you guys suggest and pointers? Also, I heard the Civil test has been changed, is this true?
Thanks for the time and help...

Hello. Baton Rouge is starting a rookie school after the one going on now. We are probily hiring 100 FFs in the next 2 years. The next class will be in Feb. I have heard. Go to http://www.brgov.com/dept/fire/employment.htm
You need not certs. they will trian you in everything. As so check with the St. George Frie Dept. They do require some certs.
Hope this helpped, and good luck.

The City of St Gabriel FD is hiring to replace me and several others who have recently left. They sent out the following job announcement a couple of months ago.
--------------
East Iberville FD job openings
One full time and 4 part time positions available.
$8.00 an hour
Firefighter I
1st Responder or above
Haz-Mat Operations (will consider Awareness)
Contact Chief Floyd Sanchez for more information.
-----------
They are at:
2075 Hwy 30
St Gabriel, LA 70776
225-642-9980
Don't worry about the FF1 and others stuff too much. Most of the FFs working there don't have their FF1 cert but have lots of practical experience instead. Also there's no Civil Test to worry about since St Gabriel isn't a Civil Service town.
Good Luck.
('cause if you get hired here you're gonna need it.)
