Post Ex Chief nabbed in weed production

Former Osceola fire chief charged with running marijuana ring

HOLOPAW, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a former Osceola County
fire chief is facing charges of running a million-dollar
marijuana-production operation from a house in rural southeast
    Osceola.
Deputies say a tip led them to a house owned by former Fire
    Chief Jeffrey Ray Hall.
Hall's partner in the operation allegedly told investigators the
two were taking in 15-thousand dollars a month by growing and
selling an especially potent variety of pot known as "crippy."
The sheriff's community-response team says it found 460
marijuana plants, 18 pounds of pot and several grow rooms with
watering and high-tech lighting systems in the house
Hall was arrested Saturday on charges of trafficking in
cannabis, manufacturing cannabis and possession with intent to
sell. He was released from jail yesterday on a 50-thousand dollar
    bond.
Hall stepped down in 1999 after six years as fire chief and
    later left the department.

At $15,000 in pot sales a month, I guess so! That's quite the business to run.

Anyways, not make too much light of the issue, another case where his past fire service really shouldn't be associated with his criminal activity, but of course it still is.

Another nice headline for the fire service.

    Default Wife Surrenders

Fire-rescue veteran surrenders in drug case

    Couple charged in pot operation

    BY KIMBERLY C. MOORE
    FLORIDA TODAY

A 10-year veteran with Palm Bay Fire-Rescue surrendered to Palm Bay Police on Friday afternoon on drug charges.

Brandy Hall's arrest comes almost a week after Osceola County investigators arrested her husband in connection with a "million-dollar" marijuana operation.

Palm Bay officials suspended Hall, who faces extradition to Osceola County.

That's where her husband, former Osceola County Fire Chief Jeffrey Ray Hall, 42, was charged last Saturday with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell, plus manufacturing a hallucinogen, according to sheriff's records.

He was released from the Osceola County jail on Sunday morning on a $50,000 bond.

"She's been an excellent employee during her tenure here," said Palm Bay Fire Chief Larry Hellmann. "She's had numerous commendations and awards for her services to the citizens of Palm Bay. Firefighters are expected to maintain the highest level of public trust."

According to Palm Bay officials, the fire department hired Brandy Hall in October of 1994 as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. In April of 2000, she was promoted to driver engineer and obtained certification as a paramedic.

A statement released by Palm Bay Fire-Rescue states that "when an employee is formally charged with criminal conduct, the public trust and confidence in the employee" erodes. The city's policy is to take appropriate actions, including suspension.

Police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said the fire department would conduct its own investigation into any violations of city and/or department policies.

Martinez added every Palm Bay city employee is subject to random drug testing. Martinez said she did not know whether Hall had ever been tested.

The Osceola County Property Appraiser's Office shows the Halls own a mobile home in rural Osceola County near Holopaw. That's where sheriff's deputies found 460 marijuana plants, 18 pounds of marijuana and several grow rooms. A $23,000 generator powered a watering and high-tech lighting systems, Osceola County sheriff's spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said.

Lizasuain said Hall acknowledged profiting from the operation, but also insisted he did not sell the drugs.

Hall asked to be demoted from his $55,000-a-year job leading the county's fire-rescue department in October 1999.

It's a family affair. A family of scumbags. Allegedly of course.
