I was wondering how indepth background investagation goes, I don't have anything to hide I'm just curious how much of a hassle this step of the hiring process will be. What do they look at, do they look at driving records, criminal records, credt information and high school records?

YES!!!
I went through backgrounds for a major SOCAL fire department a month ago. There investigation included a letter and phone call to my old high school to see what type of student and person I was. I had my ten year reuinon last year. Thats how long ago I was there.
PS. As far as background invesigations go, I have been a career firefighter for the last nine years. You would think that they would only look at my current job for the investigation. Wrong THEY CALL EVERYONE.This space for rent

Oh yeah.
When you first meet a background investigator you will sign a stack of forms. This clears them to look at everything. If they find something that you did not tell them about, you are done. THEY WILL FIND IT. TELL THE TRUTH.
Good luck and be honest. This space for rent
