*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

UNITED KINGDOM
LONDON, ENGLAND
FRIDAY 8 JULY

Brigade operations have now been scaled down but appliances will remain at the scene of the incidents to assist the Police with their investigations.

Kilburn Ė four women rescued

Four women were rescued by firefighters after a blaze in a block of flats on Abbey Road in Kilburn this morning. The fire started in a communal mailbox in the lobby of the three storey block causing thick smoke to fill the internal stairwell. The women were helped to safety from a first floor window by fire crews using a ladder. The blaze destroyed around a quarter of the lobby area and fire investigation officers believe that the fire was started deliberately.

The Brigade was called at 0254 and the fire was under control by 0314. Crews from West Hampstead and Paddington fire stations attended the incident.

Angel Fire, New Mexico Blaze

In the Carson National Forest in Northeastern New Mexico, a wildfire that was spotted Thursday afternoon 12 miles west of Angel Fire, has now consumed approx. 200 acres. No structures have been threatened at this time, however the fire is reported to be "active". A Forest spokesperson has stated that spotting and crowning up to a quarter mile into the sky has been reported. Several Air Tankers and
helicopters have been assisting groundfire operations that is in very rugged terrain. It is not known at this writing as to what has started the blaze.

Albuquerque, NM
Man Throws pipe bomb at APD officers

A northeast Albuquerque neighborhood sounded like a war zone Friday night after a suspect wanted on several charges barricaded himself in his house while trying to hold off SWAT officers. Albuquerque police said undercover detectives tried to serve a warrant on the man earlier Friday at his home in the 12000 block of Grand northeast. He was wanted on charges including rape and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. When the man refused to come out, a SWAT team, bomb squad and negotiators were called to the scene. Four nearby homes had to be evacuated. Police said the man backed up threats to use weapons and bombs against them after throwing an explosive device similar to a pipe bomb. Police used tear gas on the home to try and get the suspect out. Eventually, a police robot entered the home and found the suspect had shot himself. Teams are now working to clear the home and yard of any possible explosives. Authorities continue to investigate. Police said they would let the evacuated families return as soon as it is safe.
