Any news on a SAFER timeline? When will peer review begin/end? Any hints on when they will start notifications??

SAFER applications will be reviewed and scored July 18-22, 2005.
Awards sometime in September.

Any new SAFER news to report? Peer review was completed last week, so the picture should be clearer. Please clue us in if you have any info to share

My instincts tell me sometime in early September . I would expect to see about 130-150 departments funded with that money.

Has anyone received any Qs or 1199As for the SAFER grant yet?

I doubt anyone will be getting those yet, in my opinion. Just went to panel in July, so it's a little early. Especially considering all the hold-ups with the AFG. Patience. Remember, SAFER is brand new, too, so there may be a few kinks to iron out on their end...just unexpected things, or questions, not answered or convered in the guidelines.

I am on the hiring list for Boise FD and a lot of their decisions are pending whether or not they get $$ for another academy. This has been the longest 2 years of my life, I feel like a little kid checking the mail everyday for some piece of life-changing news....

I heard from from a lady in the system and a current FF that the time frame is looking like sometime mid-september....
