Default "Car surfing" idiots, another fire service black-eye

    http://kdka.com/local/local_story_195180813.html

It doesn't mention it in the web story, but on the 10 o'clock news one of the idiots informs the viewing public that he's a "volunteer firefighter" and his friend shouldn't have been "car surfing"...the friend says he was "justing checking the tires" as his idiot female friend is snickering and laughing (on camera) behind him.

Thanks moron for the positive image of firefighters.

The lengths people have gone to these days for excitement.

I was trying to go through the Dairy Queen drivethru and there were about 15 suspicious looking people outside and 3 of them ran over to my car and tried to get in. They had eggs and baseball bats... I was out of there in a hurry.

I've watched some car surfing on television before. It's somewhat interesting. It does seem like a waste of good tires though. Why waste a $400 set of tires for 15 minutes worth of thrills? Another waste of time and money that kids are getting in to is drifting.

I may be mistaken, but what does hanging out of the window have to do with car surfing?

I thought car surfing was climbing out on the roof and "surfing" the car (riding on the roof)...what does that have to do with the tires? Or am I misunderstanding?

My dream and I hope you don't find this too crazy is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

My understanding of car surfing is you get a big beefy rear wheel drive car and put skinny tires on the back. You spin the tires while making crazy swerving manuevers all while driving down a track.

According to CBS it's "a stunt where a person attempts to ride on top of a moving vehicle." However, I know I have seen different on television and in magazines.

Your first example sounds more like "Drifting" to me.

When we were kids, we used to ride on the roof rack, or stand in the back of a pickup to "car surf".

Yes, we were dumb. But that's Rural Northern Ontario for ya. I'm surprised we never thought of "Drift Surfing".

Thats called fish tailing or 'fishies'. Drifting it 'controlled' skidding around corners. Never could quite understand it myself cause it makes you go slower. And car surfing is standing on top of the car whilst its moving.

For all the life of me, i cant see a firefighter going to hell. At least not for very long. We would end up putting out all the fires and annoying the devil too much.

sorry guys but you have it all wrong. car surfing is exactly that (surfing). It's easy drive around until you find a big body of water, hit the gas and aim at water, when you hit water climb out of window and surf. this is better done in flash floods even firefighters do it. heres the proof

A couple months ago I helped a couple guys with felony wants get arrested by hanging on to the B pillar post of "their" Nissan SUV but damned if I'd do that for kicks.
My life's exciting enough responding to fire calls.
