    Smile Favorite song lyrics

Ok music lovers, list your favorite song lyrics here! Here are 2 of my favorites. (very insightful stuff!)

1)"Every gambler knows the secret to survival is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep. 'Cause every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser...and the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep." -the gambler-Kenny Rogers

2)"I have nothin to lose but my money and my mind" -take it off-KISS

    Talking one of my favorites

    Tell her i´ll be waiting
    In the usual place
    With the tired and weary
    There´s no escape
    To need a woman
    You´ve got to know
    How the strong get weak
    And the rich get poor
    You´re running with me
    Don´t touch the ground
    We´re restless hearted
    Not the chained and bound
    The sky is burning
    A sea of flame
    Though your world is changing
    I will be the same
    The storm is breaking
    Or so it seems
    We´re too young to reason
    Too grown up to dream
    Now spring is turning
    Your face to mine
    I can hear your laughter
    I can see your smile
    No I can´t escape
    I´m a slave to love

But what am I to do?
    You sometimes drive me crazy-
    But I worry about you

I know it makes no difference

But I see the tip of the iceberg-
    And I worry about you...

    METALLICA/Nothing Else Matters

So close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
    forever trusting who we are
    and nothing else matters

    never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
    and nothing else matters

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
    and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
    but I know

so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
    forever trusting who we are
    and nothing else matters

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
    but I know

    never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
    and nothing else matters

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
    and nothing else matters

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know

    Kansas-Wayward Son

    Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Now don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a madman
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin'
    I can hear them say
    CHORUS
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't
    know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say
    CHORUS
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
    Surely heaven waits for you
    CHORUS

    Bye, bye, Miss American Pie;
Drove my Chevy to the levy,
    But the levy was dry;
And good ole boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' "this'll be the day that I die...
This'll be the day that I die...

Did you write the book of love,
Do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so...

    Do you believe in rock-n-roll
Can music save your moral soul and
Can you teach me how to dance real slow...

'Cause I know that you're in love with him,
'Cause I saw you dancin' chin to chin

You both kicked off your shoes
And I dig those rythmic blues....

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

So look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

I’ve been walking my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it’ll turn your head around
Well, there’s hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

So here she's actin' happy inside her handsome home
And me, I'm flyin' in my taxi, takin' tips and gettin' stoned.

I got into town a little early.
Had eight hours to kill before the show.
First I thought about heading up north of the bay
Then I knew where I had to go.

I thought about taking a limousine
Or at least a fancy car.
But I ended up taking a taxi
'Cause that's how I got this far.

You see, ten years ago it was the front seat
Drivin' stoned and feelin' no pain.
Now here I am straight and sittin' in the back
    Hitting Sixteen Parkside Lane.

The driveway was the same as I remembered
And a butler came and answered the door.
He just shook his head when I asked for her
And said "She doesn't live here anymore."

But he offered to give me the address
That they were forwarding her letters to.
I just took it and returned to the cabbie
And said "I got one more fare for you."

And so we rolled back into the city
Up to a five story old brownstone
I rang the bell that had her name on the mailbox.
    The buzzer said somebody's home.

And the look on her face as she opened the door
Was like an old joke told by a friend.
It'd taken ten more years but she'd found her smile
And I watched the corners start to bend.

And she said, "How are you Harry?
Haven't we played this scene before?"
I said "It's so good to see you, Sue
Had to play it out just once more."
Play it out just once more.

She said I've heard you flying high on my radio
I answered "It's not all it seems"
That's when she laughed and she said, "It's better sometimes
When we don't get to touch our dreams."

That's when I asked her where was that actress
She said "That was somebody else"
And then I asked her why she looked so happy now
She said "I finally like myself, at last I like myself."

So we talked all through that afternoon
    Talking about where we'd been
We talked of the tiny difference
Between ending and starting to begin.
We talked because talking tells you things
Like what you really are thinking about.
But sometimes you can't find what you're feeling
Till all the words run out.

So I asked her to come to the concert.
She said "No, I work at night."
I said, "We've gotten too damn good at leaving, Sue"
    She said, "Harry, you're right."

Don't ask me if I made love to her
Or which one of us started to cry
Don't ask me why she wouldn't take the money that I left
If I answered at all I'd lie.

So I thought about her as I sang that night
And how the circle keeps rolling around.
How I act as I'm facing the footlights
And how she's flying with both feet on the ground.

I guess it's a sequel to our story
From the journey 'tween heaven and hell
With half the time thinking of what might have been
and half thinkin' just as well.

I guess only time will tell.

    Unhappy Winds Of Yesterday...................

Sometimes at Night, When I'm all alone
The sounds of the day fade away
Alone in my room with my memories
Winds of Yesterday blow on me
I hear country music on the radio
The way that it was a long time ago
And the sound of Mama Singin'
    Comes driftin' thru the trees
When the Winds of Yesterday blow on me

I see a moon so bright, over cotton fields of white
The fragrance of Magnolias ride the breeze
And the little 2 room school, where I learned the Golden Rule
And the Winds of Yesterday blow on me
I see children at the old swimmin' hole
And Fishin' on the river, with an old cane pole
Each memory is so dear, Each face is so clear
When the Winds of Yesterday blow on me

I can hear the choir sing, how their voices ring
I remember the words to each song
And that old preacher man once more sets my heart at ease
When the Winds of Yesterday blow on me
When the Winds of Yesterday blow on me.

    Suicide Is Painless
    Mike Altman & Johnny Mandell

A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
Is it to be or not to be
And I replied "Oh why ask me."

    Cause suicide is painless
    It brings on many changes
    And I can take or leave it if I please;

And you can do the same thing if you please.

    Andy Griggs/She's more.

I like blue eyes, hers are green.
Not like the woman of my dreams.
And her hair's not quite as long as I had planned.
    Five foot three isn't tall-
She's not the girl I pictured at all,
In those paint by number fantasies I've had.

So it took me by complete surprise
When my heart got lost in those deep green eyes
She's not at all what I was looking for
    She's more.

No, it wasn't at first sight,
But the moment I looked twice
I saw the woman I was born to love
    Her laughter fills my soul

And when I hold her I don't wanna let go
When it comes to her I can't get enough

So it took me by complete surprise
When my heart got lost in those deep green eyes
She's not at all what I was looking for
    She's more

    More than I dreamed of
    More than any man deserves.
    I couldn't ask for more
    Than a love like hers

So it took me by complete surprise
When my heart got lost in those deep green eyes
She's not at all what I was looking for
    She's more..

Thumbs up Ultimate driving song TP

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin’
The trees went by, me and del were singin’
    Little runaway, I was flyin’

    Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
    I’m runnin’ down a dream

I felt so good, like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed eyes
The last three days the rain was unstoppabl e
It was always cold, no sun shine

    Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
    I’m runnin’ down a dream

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There’s something good waitin’ down this road
I’m pickin’ up whatever is mine

    Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
    I’m runnin’ down a dream

I pop this `un in after a rough shift rotation.

    Huey Lewis n the news

I like my job and i dont mind the work
But eleven out of twelve is bound to hurt
The pay's pretty good and the benefits are fine
But i got a little girl and i wanna make her mine

Don't mind telling you i get a little mad
To get a bit ahead takes all the time i have
    Don't misunderstand me
    I'm not getting soft
All i want is a couple days off

    Can't wait for the weekend
Ah baby just can't wait no

I dont need another high song to sing
I dont need a shiny new diamond ring
I don't need to meet nobody else
I just need a little time for myself
'cause i'm only human, i'm no machine
I need a little loving only you know what i mean

    Don't misunderstand me
    I'm not getting soft
All i want is a couple days off

    Let me catch my breath

    Thank god for the weekend

    Back to the old grind

I dont need another long coffee break
I've had as much coffee as a man can take
I need to change my disposition
    Change my point of view
I need time to figure out what i want to do

Believe me when i tell you it gets a little rough
We work a little harder but it never is enough

    I'm not afraid to say
    I'm a total loss
All i want is a couple days off

    Can't wait for the weekend

"One hand reaches out and pulls a lost soul from harm. While a thousand more go unspoken for, They say what good have you done, By saving just this one. It's like whispering a prayer in the fury of a storm.
And I hear them saying you'll never change things, And nomatter what you do it's still the same thing. But it's not the world I am changing. I do this so this world will know, That it will not chnge me." - Garth Brooks - "The Change"

" I can sit here in the back half of my life, And wonder when the other shoe will fall. Or I can stand up, point myself home, And see if I've learned anything at all, Anything at all
Mediocrity's easy, the good things take time. The great need commitment right down the line." - Bob Seger - "Lock and Load"

Always a fave on the coach on the way back fro a Rugby Match or a Fire Brigade 'Beano'

In a cavern down by a canyon
    Excavatin' for a mine
A-there lived a miner from North Carolina
    And his daughter chubby Clementine

N'every mornin', hey just about dawnin'
A'when the sun BEGAN to shine
You know she would rouse up wake all a them cows up
And walk 'em down to her Daddy's mine

She took the foot bridge way 'cross the water
    Though she weighed two-ninety nine
The old bridge trembled and disassembled
(Oops!) dumped her into the foamy brine

Hey, crackle like thunder, (ho, ho) you know she went under
(ho, ho) blowin bubbles down the line
Hey, I'm no swimm'a but were she slimm'a
    I might'a saved that Clementine

(Hey) broke the record way under water
I thought that she was doin' fine
I wasn't nervous until the service
    That they held for Clementine

Hey you sailor (ho, ho) way out in your whaler
With a harpoon your trusty line
If she shows now, yeah, there she blows now
It just may be chunky Clementine

    (One more time)
Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin'
Oh my darlin' , oh my darlin' sweet Clementine
    You may be gone
    But!
    You're not forgotten,
    Fare thee well
    So long Clementine
    Bye!
