    Default DJ's new career

I just have to mention that DJ gets sworn in as a FF with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department on Friday morning, 0900. Guess where I'll be then.

A FF is all he ever wanted to be and his dream has finally come true. I'm kind of proud of him. For those that don't know, he's my son.

Hey Jack, congrats to DJ! I was previously employed by the Mt. Vernon FD. There are some great guys there and I still stay in touch with a few of them. Their only problem is dealing with the city, like getting raises, insurance premiums, etc. Tell him good luck with paramedic class too.

The ceremony wasn't exactly impressive - somebody at the city clerk's office had him recite the oath in front of a bible and then he signed the book. That was about it. The Chief and Asst. Chief were both off Friday so the Captain in charge did the honors. He worked his first shift Saturday, nothing too exciting went on. Of course, to him unless it's a really rip-roaring blaze it's not too exciting. I'm happy for him.

Glad DJ is on, he will have alot of fun with the new paramedic curriculum.

Best advice lay low, learn your streets, finish paramedic class, get off probation.

The guys and the job are great, just alot of other distractions in general.
