Fulham – woman rescued from flat fire

An older woman was rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in a flat on Peterborough Road in Fulham this morning. The fire started in the bedroom of the first floor flat where the woman was helped to safety by fire crews using an internal staircase. She was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by an ambulance crew. It is believed a tealight candle started the fire. Place candles and nightlights on a flat and stable heat resistant surface like a ceramic plate –and never leave candles unattended or go to sleep when they are alight. The Brigade was called at 0131 and the fire was under control by 0153. CXrews from Chelsea and Fulham fire stations attended the incident.
