Default Anyone using Firefox as a browser?

I use Firefox as an internet browser. Most people use Internet Explorer or IE as a browser just because it came on their computer. Firefox stops all popups and has many other great abilities like tabbed browsing and a password manager.

Try it, you'll like it. It is based on Mozilla which is based on Netscape. It's free.

yes, and I enjoy it much more than IE. then again, I was a big fan of netscape before it went belly up.

firefox is definately the way to go.

and thunderbird is a great alternative to outlook.

and what's the best is that it is all free!!

Yes, yes, and damn straight. The AdBlock extension for Firefox is another kick *** feature. Ad-Banners good bye!

Yeah I moved from IE a long time ago. Firefox is totally the way to go. I am running it on both my XP boxes as well as my Ubuntu desktop machine. Firefox is a great stable browser with lots of very usable options. Can you tell I like it? Thunderbird is also a great email client. I have been playing with in on the Ubuntu machine. So far I have only used to for my Gmail account but It looks like it can do much more.

I read an article on /. that IE7 is more of a mediocre copy of firefox. Anyone tried it?

Post it! I would really like to see more people using Firefox. IE is so vulnerable to hackers and virii.

    Default One more thing...

The use of Open Source extensions makes FF the most versatile choice. It is extremely easy to add plug-ins and such to Fire Fox.

The fact that it is open source pretty much means that there is a TON of add-ons.

If everyone would use it the the Spy-Ware/Ad-Ware conundrum would vanish.

I've been using Firefox for nearly 8 months now, and I love it. It kicks IE's butt all over the place and one minor problem...some pages not displaying properly in Firefox...has been taken care of with an extenssion allowiing you to view a page in IE if needed.

NO Pop-ups. Little worry about viruses (VIRII??? :P )A poerful and versatile download manager.

HEck, Tabbed Browsing and Password Manager are BOTH worth the price...Oh Wait! THERE IS NO PRICE It's free! And Open SOurce! New extendions and themes constantly being added.

All in all the way to go and the wave of the future

Tabbed browser windows are awesome once you're used to them. I still find myself pulling the cursor to the bottom of the screen to change windows, sometimes.

    Firefox

I use IE primarily because I do not have a high speed connection at home - we live to far out for DSL and we only have Direct TV for cable - it just takes to long to download anything good . I have used FF and Netscape 7 in the past.

I love tabbed browsing and the password manager. IE does have a built in pop up manager now. I use the Google bar so its really not an issue either way for me. As for virus - just keep your virus software up to date and DONT DOWNLOAD ANY PORN DIALERS

Again, I guess I am the outsider. I tried FireFox and didnt like how it over-ran my computer with the Google stuff.

So back to Microsoft based stuff for me. Note- Because of Service Pak2 and the MS anti-spy-ware program, I havent had many security/pop-up issues.

Firefox, while not having nearly as many security exploits as IE, is having it's own fair share of issues as has already been pointed out.

IE is fine on a computer with up-to-date software, and a product like MS anti-spyware, along with a robust internet security package like Norton/Mcaffee, etc. If I didn't have this stuff installed, I'd definetly be using FF.

One annoying thing with FF is that some sites/extensions do not display correctly in it, as they are tailored for IE rendering.

The next version of IE will sport many of the features that FF already has.

I use FF every once-in-awhile just for something different, but I mainly use IE. So that's atleast 2 things we agree on Bou... Glocks and IE.
