Erith – house fire


Four fire engines and around twenty firefighters tackled a blaze in a two storey house on Colyers Lane in Erith this morning. The fire started in the loft of the house and quickly spread to the roof of the house next door. The occupants of both houses managed to leave before the Brigade arrived. The blaze destroyed the entire roof of one house and around half of the adjoining premises. The Brigade was called at 0213 and the fire was under control by 0321. Crews from Erith and Plumstead fire stations attended the incident.


Chingford – man escapes house blaze

A man escaped from a fire in a house on Eatons Mead in Chingford this afternoon. The man jumped from a first floor window before the Brigade arrived and was taken to hospital suffering from injuries and smoke inhalation. The blaze destroyed both floors of the two storey semi-detached house and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Brigade was called at 1538 and the fire was under control by 1620. Crews from Chingford and Woodford fire stations attended the incident.
