Do some research and you'll discover that the Cairns N5A New Yorker doesn't have an impact cap. The Cairns N6A Sam Houston is a leather helmet with a impact cap. The New Yorker Doesn't have an impact cap. Just be sure it has a chinstrap as required by NFPA, because some older N5A's have no chin straps.

How old is the helmet? Does just have nettting? If so its an OLD N5. You can get a inpact liner for it. However nothing fancy, no ratchet or anything else.
And I am pretty sure all cairns helmets at some point or another came with chin straps.
