I was in the vehicle extrication technician class at the Firehouse Expo. Ron did a demonstration showing the deployment of airbags. He used a little black battery box to deploy them. I was wondering if this was home made or does anyone know a place to buy something like that? It was very impressive to see these bags deploy. We would like to show this to the rest of our members.

The same thing can be accomplished by simply using a 9 volt battery. The 'box' is simply a switching mechanism.

There was a thread on here not too long ago that detailed the process fairly well.

In my classes I use my cell pnone to deploy the bags. Just use the charging port. Push the wires in and the bag will blow.
