    Default 2004 Funds still coming!

Just got word that a nearby department got 1199 for the remaining 2004 funds. Anyone else get notice?

Had you received a rejection letter for 2004, and are now getting what is left over ?

Yes, anyone that got a DJ in the last round (Feb 2005) may have had the verbage in the notification that said if enough excess funds become available that they may get the award. Not all last round DJs, but anywhere from 10-30 excess awards have been given out in past years, depending on how much was left over and how much was asked for. Those that went for the same or similar items in 2005 as in 2004 will get the difference between the requests. Unless the identical app was submitted in which case you may either get pulled from 2005 if you aren't in the running again this year (which would be odd), or they'll skip to the next person since you'd be getting money for the same items in this year's award. Dealer's choice.

I attended a DHS hosted workshop for the 2005 AFG in the late Winter/Spring and while there - in attendance, there was a department, that had in fact, received the previous year a rejection letter, however, just before the workshop, they received notification, for the YEAR before's grant. They had been funded from excess funds from the prior year. Those funds can come from monies given back from departments (excess) or any number of reasons (under budget admin. cost, etc.).

Typically, this starts between in the late summer/early Fall. They usually handle it when they are giving out the funds from the newly awarded years funds. Way to go. Means you scored high on the previous year, but they likely ran out of funds, before they got to you.
