*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

08-04-05 Hartford, CT
168-170 Whitney Street
0910 E11 E5 E8 L5 L6 Tac DC1
0914 RIT E1
0917 Rehab E14 DC2
0923 2nd Alarm E2 E16 E9 L4
Original callers identified the address as 168 South Whitney Street, not realizing that Whitney and South Whitney Streets are considered separate streets with their own duplicate numbering systems. Arriving firefighters discovered that there were two buildings in the city with nearly identical addresses and the one that they had responded to was not the one that was on fire. A hasty redirection of resources five blocks to the north brought units to the multi family dwelling that was burning with a six minute delay. The fire's head start and high heat

and humidity resulted in a quick second alarm.

LONDON, ENGLAND
FRIDAY 5 AUGUST

Kilburn two people rescued

Two older people were rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in a flat on Kilburn High Road in Kilburn last night. The blaze started in a third floor flat where the man and woman were led to safety by fire crews after becoming trapped by thick smoke. Both were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire destroyed a small area of the bathroom and is believed to have been caused by a fan.
Each year in the UK electrical faults, accidents or misuse of electrical equipment cause 28,000 fires in homes. At night, turn off and unplug all electrical appliances except those that are meant to be permanently switched on (like videos and fridges). The Brigade was called at 2024 and the fire was under control by 2049. A crew from West Hampstead fire station attended the incident.

Peckham five people rescued by firefighters

Five men were rescued by fire crews after a blaze broke out in a flat on Cator Street in Peckham last night. Four men were helped to safety from a third floor balcony by firefighters using a ladder, and another man was rescued by crews from a second floor flat. The fire destroyed around a quarter of the third floor flat and fire investigation officers believe that it was started deliberately. Police are now dealing with this incident. The Brigade was called at 2328 and the fire was under control by 0027. Crews from Old Kent Road and Peckham fire stations attended the incident.
